What is NFC?
NFC, short for Near Field Communication, allows two electronic devices to exchange information if they are close to each other. For example, a cell phone can read data off of an NFC tag embedded inside of a poster or business card.
What are NFC tags?
An NFC tag contains small amounts of data that can be read by NFC-enabled phones and readers. It's basically a chip plus an antenna, usually embedded within a sticker, card, or poster. NFC tags can contain urls, vcards, and more.
How can NFC tags be used?
NFC tags have applications in advertising, ticketing, payments, events, and as accessories to mobile applications. Our app NFC Task Launcher makes extensive use of NFC tags.
Programming NFC Tags
You can use free applications to program data onto NFC tags. Android, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry all have free applications that allow you to encode and program tags.
